You can really go to town and spend enormous amounts of money on a vast range of promotional printed material if you really need to do so. If you have a big launch planned and there are various events taking place around the release of your book then maybe that's fine.
But, I have some good news for you . . . I run my own print and graphics business along side this enterprise, and I am going to tell you simply that in most cases . . .

You should plan very carefully what you actually need:
I have produced many print runs in the thousands for clients that would perhaps have been better ordering just a few hundred.
The catch is that, as you may already know, printing gets far cheaper the more you have so it's tempting . . . but my advice having done this myself is to think small and be prepared to change. In other words pay for only what you know you're going to need initially because it's quite possible some of the details will change.
